HTC Wireless PCS Coverage & Roaming

RoamingFor a variety of reason, it is not possible to cover every corner of the country utilizing HTC Technologies' Wireless PCS CDMA virtual network. Even so, you want to be able to make and receive calls no matter where you travel. That's why we have access to other companies who allow roaming. With cooperation between wireless companies, we are able to give you coast-to-coast coverage. And that gives you the ability to make and receive calls, when using your dual band phone, and have superb quality service even when you are off of the HTC PCS virtual network.

Roaming occurs when you make or receive calls outside of the HTC Technologies' PCS virtual network. Automatic roaming requires no action by you and is standard on all post-paid plans. You can make and receive calls. Manual roaming occurs when you make calls in an area where no roaming agreement has been implemented. You will be prompted to enter a credit card number. When manual roaming, you can only make outgoing calls. Incoming calls can not be received. Manual roaming rates are usually higher -- on average around $2 per minute.

To roam in both analog and digital, a dual-mode phone is required. You can roam in digital only using a single-mode phone.

Most roaming occurs in analog. When roaming in analog, you may experience all the shortcomings of the analog or cellular environment including, but not limited to diminished call quality, shorter battery life and susceptibility to cloning. Depending on the roaming partner, some features -- message waiting indicator and Caller ID -- may not be available. When you leave your virtual home network coverage area while on a call, the call will drop. You will need to reinitiate the call on the roaming carrier's network. When you return to HTC's virtual home network coverage area while on a call that was initiated on a roaming partner's network, the you will remain connected until the call is terminated by you or you leave the roaming partner's coverage area.

HTC Technologies Wireless customers utilize initiated roaming agreements are are charged rates specified to the individual rate plan that you signed up for. As a customer, you do not have the ability to choose which roaming carrier you would like to use. Each roaming carrier sets their own local calling area and long distance rates.
